Is Your Kitchen a Refresh Candidate?

Look past the dated surface of your kitchen and dive into the internal cabinetry. Follow the checklist below and if you agree with the statements, you are eligible to replace your cabinet frontals. If you disagree with any of the above statements, replacing your cabinets may be in your best interest instead.

 Checklist:

  • Are my internal cabinets free from water-damage, mould or splitting wood?

  • Am I happy with the layout of my kitchen?

  • Am I unhappy with the colour of my cabinets?

  • Am I able to access and re-fit my cabinet hardware or add new hinges?

When assessing your cupboards, you need to look for signs of ageing, and find out where it is better to replace than to keep repairing. Typically, cabinets have a lifetime of around 20 years, although this depends on wear and tear.

Where do I begin?

Step 1: Determine your style

After completing the checklist above determine what you want from a kitchen. What style do you want? What tones and colour scheme do you want to go with? Textures, or finishes? If you’re stuck for ideas have a look at our inspiration hubs below.

Step 2: Measure Twice and Cut Once

Once you’ve nailed down these key factors, begin measuring your kitchen and see if you have extra space for additional cabinetry. Measure your existing doors and how they fix to your cabinet’s carcass. Determine how many doors you will need in total, and if you will need additional fixtures like handles or push latches. This is also a great time to think about updating your storage with pull-out units for more efficient space management. Ensure you measure all these areas and get definitive product amounts nailed down.

Step 3: Order your Made to Measure Doors

When you’ve measured everything, and then measured again you can follow this link. Here you will find our Made to Measure ordering system.

Select your finish, measurements, drilling specifications and enter any additional requirements. Follow the prompts to complete your order. If you have multiple doors with the same measurements, you can copy a selection made in the app and duplicate the request. Place your delivery address and make your payment. Once your order is placed you will receive a confirmation from us that your delivery is being processed.

Note: If you need help with determining hinge measurements for replacement doors, we’ve created a handy guide ‘here’.

Step 4: Prepare for your doors

If you’re not handy, we recommend contacting a licensed installer or someone with cabinetry skills to install your new door fronts.

Once your delivery has been confirmed, you can begin to remove your old doors. Start by cleaning the cabinets thoroughly, removing all grease, and then take off the cupboard and drawer fronts and mark them so you know where they were removed from. Remove handles, hinges and knobs if you wish to transfer them onto your new cabinet fronts.

Step 5: Install

Your new doors have arrived! Carefully unpack them and fit them to your old cabinet carcasses. Congratulations! You’ve transformed your kitchen with a high quality cost-effective and efficient solution. Celebrate by loving the new heart of your home and get inspired to use your new kitchen.
